I am working on an Excel spreadsheet. Somehow there is a formula, even a combination of formulas in the cell. I can't delete the cell.

    1

On the top menu, select the Review tab and if the sheet is protected, un-protect the sheet.

    2

If that was not the problem, right click the cell, select Format Cell, and on the resulting dialog, select the Protection tab, if the cell is locked, unlock it then try deleting the contents of the cell.

If you are unable to delete a cell in Excel because it contains a formula, you can try the following steps:

    1. Select the Cell: Click on the cell that you want to delete.
    2. Press DELETE: This should remove the content of the cell, including any formulas.
    3. Clear Contents: If pressing DELETE does not work, you can right-click on the cell, select "Clear Contents" from the context menu to remove the formula.
    4. Check for Protection: Ensure that the worksheet is not protected. If it is, you will need to unprotect it first to make changes.
    5. Remove Control or Reference: If the cell is part of a control or reference that is in use, you may need to remove that reference first before you can delete the cell.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider checking for any ActiveX controls or other elements that might be preventing the deletion.
