Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

I've seen many reports online about this behavior with HP Display Control. So far, it doesn't seem to be a problem with Windows itself, but rather with the HP Display Control application.

I suggest you download and install HP Support Assistant and try to update HP Display Control using it.

If the pop-up you're receiving is directly from HP Support Assistant, try uninstalling and reinstalling it using the latest version from the link I provided above. Next, try updating HP Display Control.

If the problem persists, please let me know.

It sounds like you are experiencing issues with a critical update for your HP display control. If the update is not progressing past the download step, you may want to try the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. Check Your Internet Connection: Ensure that you have a stable internet connection, as this is essential for downloading updates.
    2. Run Windows Update Troubleshooter: You can use the built-in troubleshooter in Windows to help identify and resolve issues with Windows Update.
    3. Manual Installation: If the automatic update fails, consider checking the HP website for the latest drivers or updates for your display control and install them manually.
    4. Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve issues with updates.
    5. Check for System Updates: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date, as some updates may depend on the latest system updates being installed.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to seek further assistance from HP support or a technical expert.
