Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    Please clarify the following:

    • Open Microsoft Edge, go to "Settings and more (Alt+F) > Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge", and tell me what the current version is.
    • Do you have a third-party antivirus installed? If yes, which one?

Also. What is the version and "OS Build" of your Windows 11?

    • Press "Windows + R", type winver, and click OK.

If you prefer, share a screenshot. Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

Be sure to censor your email address if it appears. The Microsoft Q&A is public.

    I await your reply.

Microsoft Edge is updated by Windows Update. If you'd rather not wait until the next update through Windows Update, you can update Microsoft Edge on its own. Open Microsoft Edge settings and go to Help and Feedback > About Microsoft Edge.

If you are having trouble updating Microsoft Edge, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check for Running Processes: Open Task Manager and ensure that there are no running processes for Edge, such as msedge.exe or msedgewebview2.exe. If they are running, end those processes.
    2. Disable Third-Party Security Software: Sometimes, third-party antivirus or endpoint protection software can block updates. If your organization's policy allows, temporarily disable this software and try the update again.
    3. Retry the Update: After ensuring no processes are running and any security software is temporarily disabled, attempt to update Microsoft Edge again.
    4. Collect Diagnostic Logs: If the update still fails, you can collect diagnostic logs to help troubleshoot the issue further. This includes Edge installation and update logs, which can be found in specific directories based on your installation type. You may also want to use Process Monitor to capture real-time activity during the update attempt.
    5. Contact Microsoft Support: If you continue to experience issues, you can create a support request with Microsoft and attach the diagnostic logs for further assistance.

If you need to speak with a live person for support, you can try the following steps:

    • In the search bar, type "Get Help" and open it.
    • Type "Chat with an agent" and press Enter.
    • Click the "Contact support" button at the bottom and follow the prompts to connect with a live agent.

These steps should help you resolve the update issue with Microsoft Edge.
