I was unable to grant MS Teams access to the Mic on iPhone with an Office 365 business account. This issue does not affect other apps on my phone.
I have an iPhone 12 Pro, running on iOS 26.3 (current as of Feb. 18, 2026).
All apps on my phone are up-to-date, including Teams (v 8.1.1).
When I join a Teams call from my iPhone , I cannot unmute myself using the audio/mic button. It is set to “mute” with the button greyed out and not clickable.
The Teams app pop-up message says “Teams needs permission. To participate in a call or meeting, go to settings and allow Teams to use your mic.”
I have tried unsuccessfully to allow Teams to use my mic by doing the following:
Attempt 1: Under Settings/Screen Time/Content & Privacy Restrictions/Microphone, “Microsoft Teams” does not appear so I cannot toggle an on/off button. [UPDATE] Turned on "Allow" to allow apps to make changes.
Attempt 2: Under Settings/Privacy & Security/Microphone, “Microsoft Teams” does not appear in the list of apps so I cannot modify the microphone access from here.
Attempt 3: Restarted phone and tried Attempts 1 and 2 above, again.
Attempt 4: Uninstalled and re-installed the Teams app and tried Attempts 1 – 3 above, again.
[UPDATE] Next time I joined a Teams call, it asked for access to the microphone. When I clicked on "Allow" I was able to un-mute my mic. My updated approach in Attempt 1 was what fixed my problem. Hope this helps someone!
