Hello,

I am helping my boss with microsoft account he used to login through a corporate email address but since he no longer works at the firm he now wants to be able to create a new account with his personal email.

Upon trying to help setting it up with his personal email it says there is already an account associated so I tried retrievin the username and it sends a verification code to his gmail but everytime we put the verification code nothing happens and now it says there were too many attempts and to try again tomorrow

Is there a live agent that can help with microsoft account retrieval?

    Hi umi kaplan

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that you are experiencing issues with your Microsoft account.

Please wait 24 to 48 hours without attempting to sign in or requesting a code. If you try again before this period ends, the security timer may reset. After the wait, use Incognito/InPrivate mode or a different browser entirely. Often, browser cookies "remember" a failed state, which can cause the interface to hang even after you enter the correct code.

To contact a Microsoft Support agent directly:

    • Go to Contact - Microsoft Support
    • Type a brief description of your issue in the search box.
    • Click "Get Help", then scroll to the bottom and select "Contact Support”.
    • When prompted to select Products & Services, select "Other Products"; Under Category, select "Manage account security".
    • Look for and select "Chat with a support agent in your web browser" (during business hours) or a similar callback option (if available). Explain your situation clearly. User's image

Thank you so much for your time and understanding!

To help your boss retrieve his Microsoft account username associated with his corporate email, you can follow these steps:

    1. Wait for the Lockout Period: Since the system has indicated too many attempts, it is advisable to wait for the lockout period, which is usually about 24 hours, before trying again. Attempting further verifications during this time may reset the cooldown.
    2. Use the Account Recovery Form: When you retry, make sure to use the Account Recovery Form from a familiar device and location, and provide accurate details to verify ownership.
    3. Contact Microsoft Support: If the recovery attempts continue to fail, you can contact Microsoft Support for assistance. You can sign in with any Microsoft account to reach out to them. If your boss does not have another account, he may need to create a new one to initiate contact with support.
    4. Check for Existing Accounts: If the error indicates that an account is already associated with the personal email, it may be necessary to recover that account first before creating a new one.

Unfortunately, there is no direct way to speak with a live agent through the forums, but contacting support as described should help resolve the issue.
