Cannot view resources on Azure portal

Please provide below info when asking for support: timestamp=[REDACTED],correlationId=[REDACTED] Try refreshing the page. Your resources aren't affected by the issue, we're just having trouble showing this view right now. To see a list of resources, select Simplified View.

I've tried this many times, and I've tried the "simplified view" (also doesn't work)...

Hello Steve Gray Thanks for sharing the exact error, timestamp, and correlation ID — that helps.

This message indicates a frontend portal failure, not a problem with:

Your subscription

Your resource group

The resources themselves

Azure confirms this class of issue as a portal session / token / UI state problem, where backend APIs are healthy but the portal cannot render the resource list view correctly.

That’s why:

Refresh doesn’t help

Simplified View also fails

The same error repeats with a new timestamp

Simplified View only bypasses advanced UI filters. It does not bypass:

Corrupted AAD access tokens

Broken portal session state

Cached tenant/subscription context

So if the underlying authentication context is stale, both views fail which matches your symptom exactly.

These are portal-supported workarounds, not guesses.

Force a clean Azure Portal session (most effective)

Do all of the following:

Sign out of the Azure portal

Close all browser tabs

Open a new InPrivate / Incognito window

Open this URL directly: https://portal.azure.com/?feature.customportal=false#home

This forces the portal to:

Drop cached UI state

Rebuild the resource blade using the legacy renderer

Clear Azure-specific cookies only (if you must reuse the browser)

If Incognito works but normal mode doesn’t:

Clear cookies for:

portal.azure.com

login.microsoftonline.com

aadcdn.msftauth.net

This resets the AAD token and subscription context without wiping the full browser profile.

Verify the issue is portal-only (proof step)

Use Azure CLI or PowerShell to confirm resources are visible:

az resource list --subscription <subscription-id> --output table

If this works, it proves:

Subscription is healthy

RBAC is intact

Resources exist

Issue is 100% portal UI related

I tried all of this and I still get the same error. I didn't to the last verification step because I don't know how to get the subscription ID. Thanks for your help!

Hello Steve Gray Follow these steps to retrieve the ID for a subscription in the Azure portal.

Sign in to the Azure portal.

Under the Azure services heading, select Subscriptions. If you don't see Subscriptions here, use the search box to find it.

Find the subscription in the list, and note the Subscription ID shown in the second column. If no subscriptions appear, or you don't see the right one, you might need to switch directories to show the subscriptions from a different Microsoft Entra tenant.

To easily copy the Subscription ID, select the subscription name to display more details. Select the Copy to clipboard icon next to the Subscription ID in the Essentials section. You can paste this value into a text document or other location.

You can also list your subscriptions and view their IDs programmatically by using Get-AzSubscription (Azure PowerShell) or az account list (Azure CLI). I have few details via Private Message, could you please check and share it?

I think it’s that portal hang I’ve hit too… sorry u’re stuck with it. When it shows nothing, it’s usually a stale AAD token and sign out, clear the azr cokies, then open portal.azure.com/?feature.customportal=false clean. wish it were nicer, but that’s the only thing I think.
