Trying to install Realtek Audio Control, but it says that I'm missing a driver.

I've been trying to install the Realtek Audio Control app, but each time I do, it fails because of a missing driver. I assume that this is the Realtek UAD, but I can't for the life of me find a download anywhere for windows 11.

    Hi Joe Henson,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I understand that you are trying to install the Realtek Audio Control app on Windows 11, but the installation fails with a message indicating that a required driver is missing.

To help narrow this down a bit before moving forward, could you please clarify:

1, Does your audio device currently appear under Sound, video and game controllers in Device Manager, or is it listed under Other devices with a warning icon?

2, Was Windows 11 installed cleanly on this device, or was it upgraded from Windows 10?

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

1, Check whether a Realtek UAD driver is already installed

    • Open Device Manager
    • Expand Sound, video and game controllers
    • Look for a Realtek(R) Audio device instead of Realtek High Definition Audio

2, Install the audio driver from the device manufacturer’s support page

    • Visit the official support website of your PC or motherboard manufacturer
    • Search using your exact device model
    • Download and install the Windows 11 audio driver provided there
    • Restart the device after installation

3, Verify the Microsoft Store dependency

    • Open Microsoft Store
    • Search for Realtek Audio Control
    • Install the app only after confirming the driver is present in Device Manager

4, Check Windows Update for optional driver updates

    • Open Settings
    • Go to Windows Update
    • Select Advanced options
    • Open Optional updates and install any available audio or driver-related updates

5, Reinstall the existing audio driver

    • In Device Manager, right-click the Realtek audio device
    • Select Uninstall device
    • Restart the device and allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically
