Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

When you try to sign in and are asked to verify your identity, the verification code will be sent to the alternate phone number or email address that you previously added.

This typically happens when you try to access sensitive information in your account.

Do you have any other verification methods configured besides the incorrect phone number? If that is your only option, you will need to replace the security verification method on your Microsoft account.

On the "Verify your identity" screen, select I don't have any of these, and then follow the prompts to replace your security information.

Note: If you remove all your previous security information and replace it with new information, your account will be placed in a restricted state for 30 days. During these days, you will not be able to access any of the services that require your verification.

    5. Verify Changes: Ensure that the new phone number is correctly listed and check if you still receive prompts for the old number.
