I just want to snip a section of a page, the new Snip will only allow full screen shot

Old version snip allowed to snip a section of a slide/image/document. How do I just keep this functionality? New Snip takes a full screen shot which if I wanted this I already could do using the print screen function key.

    Hi @Garcia, Yvonne Martina

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Regarding your issue, the behavior changed due to a default‑mode update in the Windows Snipping Tool. It can look like it only takes full‑screen screenshots now, but snipping a selected area is still available.

Here are a few steps you can try:

    1. The Shortcut
    • Press Windows Key + Shift + S
    • At the top of your screen, a small toolbar will appear, choose Rectangular snip and drag to select the area you want
    • Once you draw your box, the snip is saved to your clipboard automatically.
    • For more details, please refer to: Use Snipping Tool to capture screenshots
    1. Remap your PrintScreen Key
    • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard.
    • Look for the option: "Use the Print screen button to open screen capture".
    • Toggle this to On.
    • Restart your device

Hopefully it will help work with your issue and if you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.

To snip a specific section of a page using the new Snip & Sketch tool, you can use the keyboard shortcut WIN + Shift + S. This will bring up a snipping toolbar that allows you to select a rectangular area, freeform area, or take a full-screen snip. After you take a snip, it will automatically be copied to your clipboard, and you will receive a notification that will take you to the Snip & Sketch app for further editing and annotation.

If you are experiencing issues with the functionality, ensure that you have the latest version of the Snip & Sketch app installed, as updates may include improvements and fixes for snipping features.
