OneDrive on the PC for Vault is acting odd, on the app and online is ok

I am sure this is a setting I may have changed on OneDrive, but I cannot access Personal Vault on Windows Explorer, it shows an error from the taskbar icon as the name is not allowed. Never changed it I did, but I can access it from the OneDrive Windows11 app and I can via onedrive.com.

When I try to login on Windows Explorer, it won't allow me to, keeps asking me to sign in even after I use my Windows paid account Passkey which always works on Microsoft. I'm pretty uptight about using Sync anymore and OneDrive on the PC although it is handy.

I think it is coming to having OneDrive just as on online safe deposit box and get away from any glitches and not knowing what is covered or not. I ran into the issue online about ".LOCK" in the VIDEO library, and NVIDIA although that was settled. I am not a fan of the LIBRARIES on Windows Explorer and yet I see two copies of them there. It is not a clean process. So, when I hit things like this, I roll my eyes and wonder why I subject myself.

Honestly, I have loved MS and OneDrive through the years, but I am not always following the accounts I have and the glitches from them on the apps. This may not be an exact example, but it drives me (no pun intended) crazy when it works in two places and not one.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with accessing Personal Vault on Windows Explorer while it works fine on the OneDrive app and online. Here are a few steps you can consider to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Check Account Sign-In: Make sure that you are signed in with the same account on both OneDrive and Windows Explorer. Sometimes, discrepancies in accounts can lead to access issues.
    2. Reset OneDrive: You mentioned that you are having trouble with sign-in. Resetting OneDrive can sometimes resolve these types of issues. You can do this by running the command onedrive.exe /reset in the Run dialog (Win + R).
    3. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Windows and OneDrive applications are up-to-date. Sometimes, bugs are fixed in newer versions.
    4. Personal Vault Setup: If the Personal Vault is not showing up in Windows Explorer, you might need to set it up again. You can try logging out and logging back in to OneDrive.
    5. Local Account Workaround: As a workaround, some users have found success by creating a local account, setting up Personal Vault there, and then switching back to their original account.
    6. Libraries in Windows Explorer: If you are seeing duplicates in your libraries, you might want to check your library settings and ensure that they are configured correctly. You can manage libraries through the Library settings in Windows Explorer.

If these steps do not resolve your issue, you may want to consider using OneDrive primarily as an online storage solution, as you mentioned, to avoid these glitches.

    Hello

Since you can still access it via the app or web, move the files in the vault out of the vault for now.

Then in File Explorer, delete the vault's lnk file - the one that has the red error icon.

Then refresh the folder. It should recreate the vault lnk file, and it should clear the error. Once confirmed you can access it, you can move the files back.

Resetting OneDrive, as one of the given options to resolution, did two things. I did take the Personal Vault error away, but it also took Personal Vault away. But, only from seeing it on Windows Explorer. I can still see it on OneDrive Live from Edge.

So, should I care or was this another change per MS that I cannot access it on W11?
