I can't get my keyboard or touchpad on my laptop to work anymore after updates. I can only use an external one that connects through the USB

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    Please clarify the following:

Which procedure did you use to reinstall Windows?

Did you perform a clean installation using an installation media (USB flash drive), completely erasing the system drive before reinstalling? Or did you reset the PC?

During the reinstallation, did you use the laptop keyboard and touchpad, or did you use the USB ones?

    Also, perform this test:

Access your laptop's BIOS (usually by repeatedly pressing F2, F10, or Del immediately after turning it on).

Check if the touchpad or internal keyboard is disabled in the BIOS.

    I await your reply.

If your HP Envy laptop's keyboard and touchpad are not working after updates, it may be related to driver issues or settings that were changed during the update process. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

    1. Check Device Manager: Open Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu) and look for any warning signs next to the keyboard or touchpad devices. If you see any, you may need to update or reinstall the drivers.
    2. Update Drivers: Right-click on the keyboard and touchpad devices in Device Manager and select "Update driver." You can choose to search automatically for updated driver software.
    3. Reinstall Drivers: If updating doesn't work, you can try uninstalling the drivers for the keyboard and touchpad. Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers.
    4. Check Settings: Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and ensure that the touchpad is enabled. Sometimes updates can change settings.
    5. Use External Devices: Since you mentioned that you can use an external keyboard and mouse, this can be a temporary solution while you troubleshoot the built-in devices.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consider rolling back the recent updates or checking for any additional updates that may address the problem.
