I have made my Microsoft 365 subscription renewal payment and my account currently shows next payment is due on 2/3/2027.

Every time I start my PC I receive a Microsoft 365 message stating I need to pay for a past-due Microsoft subscription.

Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

To help narrow down the issue:

    1. Is this a personal, Family, or Business Microsoft 365 subscription?
    2. Does the reminder appear on all devices or just one?

In the meantime, if you haven’t already:

This usually happens when Microsoft 365 is still seeing cached or mismatched billing info. Here are a few things I’d suggest checking:

    • Sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/services and make sure your Microsoft 365 subscription shows as Active with no payment alerts.
    • Make sure you're signed in with the same Microsoft account that the subscription is linked to.
    • Then, open any Office app (like Word or Excel), go to File > Account, and click "Update License" to refresh your subscription status.
    • If the issue still persists, please sign out and sign back in. In Word or Excel, sign out completely, close the app, reopen it, then sign back in. This forces the app to refresh the license.

If the issue persists, please provide more details by answering my questions.

    Regards,

If you are receiving a past-due notice for your Microsoft 365 subscription despite having made your renewal payment, there could be a few reasons for this issue:

    1. Payment Processing Delay: Sometimes, there can be a delay in the payment processing system. It may take some time for the payment to reflect in your account.
    2. Outstanding Balance: If there was an outstanding balance before your payment, it might still be causing the notification to appear. Ensure that there are no pending payments or issues with your billing account.
    3. Invoice Issues: If the invoice number was not specified correctly during the payment process, it might not have been applied to your account properly.
    4. Subscription Status: Check if your subscription is still active and not in a disabled state due to any past due payments or other issues.

    To resolve this, you can:

    • Verify your payment history to ensure the payment was processed successfully.
    • Contact Microsoft 365 support for assistance in checking your account status and resolving any discrepancies.

If the issue persists, it may be necessary to reach out to customer support for further investigation.
