You must go to https://setup.office.com , sign in with your Microsoft account and then enter the key. The key becomes associated with the selected account.

If you already redeemed the key, you can't redeem that same key again. Instead, use your account to install Office on a computer.

If you are saying that your product key appears to be accepted at https://setup.office.com and install and activation then fails, there may be something wrong with the product key. Which specific product is the key for? What is the product name? Microsoft 365? Or some perpetual license such as Office Home & Business 2024?

In particular, note that Office Professional Plus 2024 and similar products are not for personal use; these are volume licenses intended for organizations such as businesses.

To use the product key you have, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Activation Page: Go to the activation page for Microsoft products, which is usually found at setup.office.com or through the specific product installation interface.
    2. Enter Your Product Key: Input the product key in the designated field. Make sure to enter it correctly, as any mistakes can lead to errors.
    3. Follow the Prompts: After entering the product key, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the activation process. If you encounter a message stating "Service unavailable – a technical problem has occurred," it may indicate an issue with the service or your internet connection.
    4. Check Internet Connection: Ensure that your internet connection is stable, as activation requires online verification.
    5. Contact Support if Needed: If the problem persists, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for assistance with activation issues.

If you purchased a volume license, you may need to use the Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT) to install the product key as described in the relevant documentation.
