I've recently updated to Windows 11 and it is now asking me to activate Office 2019 which has been previously activated as a licensed copy.

How do I get around having to reactivate as I currently can't find the document with my key on it?

Which specific Office 2019 product is this? Office Home & Business 2019? Or some other version?

Note that you the product key can only be used once, during the initial setup. After that, you reinstall the product using your associated account at https://account.microsoft.com/services.

If you run into activation issues, try phone activation. Use the phone number for your region from the article at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/-telephone-activation-is-no-longer-supported-for-your-product-error-when-activating-office-9b016cd2-0811-4cb3-b896-5a6a13177713 (even if you don't see the exact error message mentioned in the article).

This didn't help. Any of the Office products indicates not activated. I've gone ahead and bought a 2024 version as I can't afford to do without.

Additional information from MS Learn is that the ceased support for Office 2019 in 2025.....

To re-activate your previously activated Office 2019 suite after updating to Windows 11, you can try the following steps:

    1. Check if Office is already activated: Open any Office application (like Word or Excel), go to File > Account and see if it shows that Office is activated.
    2. Use the Command Line: You can run the command ospp.vbs /act to attempt to activate Office again. This command can be executed in the Command Prompt with administrative privileges.
    3. Check Licensing Information: If you see a notification that product activation is required, even though you believe Office is licensed, try restarting the Office application. Sometimes, the licensing information needs to be refreshed after a system update.
    4. Generic Volume License Key (GVLK): If your Office was activated using a GVLK, ensure that the correct key is being used. You can verify this by checking your activation method in the Volume Activation Management Tool (VAMT) if you have access to it.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to retrieve your original product key from wherever it was stored or contact Microsoft support for assistance.
