I bought the microsoft 365 subscrition off the word app which is under my school account, when logging into my 365 account there is no service or subscription tab where I can cancel it. I heard that it can transfer to your personal account or apple and I checked both, but all my emails dont work when trying to log in as I dont have a personal microsoft email. What do i do? did it charge me?

    Hi Sophia Lyon,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum!

Have a good day and I hope you're doing well!

I completely understand your confusion. It can be quite tricky when personal purchases get mixed up with school accounts.

Based on my research and similar cases, I suggest you double-check the following steps to clarify where the subscription actually is:

    I. First, check your bank or credit card statement: Please look at your transaction history to see if any money has actually been taken out.

    1. Look closely at the description. Does it say "APPLE.COM/BILL" or "MICROSOFT"?

    2. If you haven't been charged. It is highly likely that the transaction failed because school accounts often have restrictions that block personal purchases. If this is the case, you don't need to do anything further.

    3. Please also double-check both your school email inbox and the email associated with your Apple ID on your Mac to see if you received any official receipt or invoice.

II. If you have been charged: Please proceed based on who processed the payment:

If charged by Apple: Since you are on MacOS and bought it via the app, the billing is likely handled by the App Store. In this case, you need to manage the subscription or request a refund through Apple directly.

You can find detailed instructions here: If you want to cancel a subscription from Apple

If charged by Microsoft: If the statement clearly says Microsoft but you cannot log in to any personal email to cancel it, please contact your School's IT / Helpdesk department. Since the purchase was initiated under the school account, they can help you:

    • Confirm if any license was assigned to your user account.
    • Assist in removing the subscription if it was purchased in error.

I hope this helps clarify the situation, at least partially. Please check these steps in order and let me know how it goes. If I misunderstood anything or if something remains unclear, feel free to reach out anytime.

If you purchased a Microsoft 365 subscription through your school account, the subscription management might be handled differently compared to a personal account. Here are some steps you can follow:

    1. Check with Your School's IT Department: Since the subscription is linked to your school account, the IT department may have specific procedures for managing subscriptions. They can provide assistance or clarify if the subscription is active.
    2. Access the Microsoft 365 Admin Center: If you have admin privileges, you can go to the Microsoft 365 admin center and check under Billing > Your products to see if the subscription is listed there.
    3. Subscription Visibility: If you do not see the subscription under your account, it may be that the subscription is managed by your school, and you might not have direct access to cancel it yourself.
    4. Charges: To check if you have been charged, you can look at your payment method associated with your school account or contact your school’s financial department for details on any charges.

If you are unable to resolve the issue through these steps, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance regarding your subscription.
