How do I get a refund for a gift copy of minecraft?

I live in the UK. My friend lives in Brazil. I just wanted to play the game so, used to other platforms where this is hardly an issue, I bought a copy of minecraft from the official minecraft website using the buy as a gift option and sent it their way. They couldn't redeem it due to being in a different region, and now I'm down 30 pounds with a useless game code as I already have the game myself. I tried both Microsoft and Xbox support and they're just filled with self-help articles or AI chat bots. I can't contact a real person - and repeatedly asking for one with the AI agent on xbox sent me to a 'live chat' that nobody ever responded to. How am I supposed to get a refund when I can't even talk to an actual person?

Pretty annoyed that I've just spent all that money for not only the game to not even work for my friend, but to now have basically just lost said money in return for absolutely nothing while I am led around a maze with no way to actually get a refund. It seems like the whole thing is just built to waste time until I conveniently run past the refund deadline.

    Hey there, spehsmehrines 22

Please can you try requesting a call back from Xbox Support. Please can you follow this link: https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/virtualagent

Please type what I have posted underneath.

You will get support options that you can use to contact support.

Please select the request call back.

I noticed after posting the images that I had entered problems redeeming a game. However, it was getting the agent to provide the request a call back option. You would be able to speak to the agent over the phone and explain what is happening.

They may be able to submit a refund request on your behalf since the option is not showing for you. Please let me know if they were able to resolve your issue or not.

    Hope this helps,
    Nathan

    Hey there, spehsmehrines 22

I am sorry to see that you have not been able to contact Xbox support, or get an answer. Please be aware that the only folk who can issue a refund are the refund team. This team uses a form to process the refund on the Xbox website.

To get a refund, you will need to request a refund from the Xbox website. Please can you sign into the Xbox website here: https://xbox.com/refund

Once you have signed into your account, you will see your recent purchases. Please select the recent purchase using the checkbox at the left-hand side of the name.

Once you have selected Minecraft, you will be able to click onto 'Request a refund' on the bottom.

This will send your refund request to the refund team at Xbox. They will review your request and make a decision on whether or not you will get a refund for your purchase. They will then email you informing you of their decision.

If they deny the refund, you can appeal it by responding directly to the email they send you. This will allow you to contact the team who can initiate a refund.

    Hope this helps,
    Nathan
