If you have OneNote sync issue between your iPhone and your computer, kindly follow the steps below to check:
1/ Internet Connection and Notebook Location
- Please ensure both your iPhone and computer have a stable internet connection.
- Verify that your notebook is stored in OneDrive (OneNote only syncs notebooks saved in OneDrive)
Steps:
- Go to OneNote for the web: https://www.onenote.com
- Sign in with the same account used on both devices.
- Check whether your notebook appears in the list.
- If the notebook appears, the notebook is stored in OneDrive.

2/ Update OneNote
Ensure OneNote is updated to the latest version on both devices.
- On iPhone: Open the App Store, check for updates, and update OneNote.
- On desktop: Open OneNote and go to Help > Check for Updates
3/ Sign Out and Sign Back In
Authentication issues can prevent syncing.
On iPhone:
- Open OneNote
- Go to Settings > Accounts
- Sign out, then sign back in using the same Microsoft account as your computer.
On your computer: Confirm you are signed in with the same account.
4/ Manual Sync on Desktop
- On Windows: File > Info > View Sync Status > Sync All
- On Mac: Control-click the notebook name > Sync This Notebook
5/ Reinstall OneNote
Before reinstalling, please back up any unsynced notes (for example, copy them into OneNote for the web).
- Delete OneNote from your iPhone
- Reinstall it from the App Store
- Sign in again and check sync status
