Disconnect a personal and (random) work account that wants authenticating when I sign on

Every time I sign on for Azure on my Mac it picks up a random work account that never really existed (i.e. was created by some Local Government service and I have deleted it). I can sign on to Microsoft.com but not Azure... I have tried deleting caches; editing licenses; using incognito mode etc but it appears to be on Microsoft side that it DEMANDS to connect my non existent work account... HELP please!

To disconnect a personal account from a work account that is causing sign-in issues with Azure, you can follow these steps:

    1. Sign Out Completely: Make sure to sign out of Azure DevOps completely. Closing the browser may not be sufficient.
      • Close all browsers, including any that might not be running Azure DevOps.
      • Open a private or incognito browsing session.
      • Go to https://aka.ms/vssignout to ensure you are signed out. Wait for the message "Sign out in progress" to appear, and after it completes, you will be redirected to the Azure DevOps webpage.
    2. Select the Correct Identity: When signing in again, ensure you select the appropriate identity (personal or work) that has access to Azure. If you have multiple accounts with the same email address, make sure to choose the correct one that you want to use.

If the problem persists, you may want to check if there are any cached credentials or stored data that could be causing the issue. You can also consider creating an emergency access account in Microsoft Entra to help prevent future lockouts.
