New laptop goal is to have a 2nd primary user different than old laptop, but sharing Microsoft 365 license. New laptop was set up incorrectly with primary user of old laptop, including all saved settings. How do we go about correcting this?

    Open the Settings App

Go to Accounts - Other Users

    Click 'Add Account'

Follow the prompts to create a new account with the correct credentials.

    Close the settings app

Log out of that incorrect account

    Log into the new account

Click the Start Button, type netplwiz and hit Enter

In the resulting dialog, select the old account and click 'Remove'

That's It, your new Admin Account will replace the old account

Hi Martha, it is not clear what you are trying to archive. You can add users to a computer, by clicking on Windows>Settings>Accounts>Family and other users>Add someone else to this PC.

But remember Office can only have one Microsoft Account (email address) associated with it. If I have misunderstood your post please let me know.

To correct the primary user setup on your new laptop while sharing the Microsoft 365 license, you can follow these steps:

    1. Sign Out of Microsoft 365 Apps: Ensure that you sign out of all Microsoft 365 applications on the new laptop using the old account.
    2. Remove Old User Account: Go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school. If the old account is listed, select it and choose Disconnect.
    3. Create a New User Account: If you want to set up a new primary user, you can create a new local user account or Microsoft account on the new laptop. Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users and click on Add someone else to this PC.
    4. Sign In with New Account: Once the new account is created, sign in to Microsoft 365 apps with the new user's credentials.
    5. Reassign Microsoft 365 License: If necessary, ensure that the Microsoft 365 license is properly assigned to the new user account through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
    6. Transfer Settings (if needed): If you need to transfer specific settings or files from the old user account to the new one, you can manually copy them over or use Windows tools to migrate settings.

By following these steps, you should be able to set up the new laptop with the correct primary user while sharing the Microsoft 365 license appropriately.
