Hello,

I just downloaded MS Todo for Tahoe and it's completely not functioning aside from being able to select different lists. I can't create any new lists or items and menu items don't do anything.
I tried a majority of the items mentioned in this post as the problem is very similar:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5490292/how-to-fix-microsoft-to-do-on-mac-os-15-5-m1pro-ap

Except booting into safe mode. I have deleted the app multiple times and cleared all of the ~/Library/ items.

Is there any fix for this? I am using all other Microsoft apps such as Outlook, Word, Onedirve etc just fine.

    Hi Harv

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A Forum.

Based on your description, I would like to share some information from my research that I hope will be helpful that since you are running Tahoe and are seeing that Outlook and OneDrive work fine while To Do is essentially "read-only" (menus unresponsive, unable to create items), it seems like this indicates a conflict with the Shared Microsoft Authentication Library (OneAuth).

Because you previously cleared the app data but not the shared data, To Do is likely trying to use an Outlook token that doesn’t grant it modification permissions, causing the UI to lock up.

Here are some recommended solutions you may consider trying:

    Clear the Shared "OneAuth" Cache

Even if you delete the To Do app, the login token remains hidden in the Office shared folder.

    • Quit all Microsoft apps (Outlook, Word, OneDrive, To Do).
    • Open Finder, press Command + Shift + G (Go to Folder), and paste this path: ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content.noindex/
    • Locate the folder named OneAuth (or ADALTokenCache) and move it to the Trash.
    • Note: You will need to sign in again to Outlook after this, but it will force To Do to generate a fresh permission token.

    Clear the "Group Container" Database

You mentioned clearing ~/Library/, but the actual database lives in a separate "Group Container" to allow widget syncing. If this is corrupt, the menus stop working.

    • In the Go to Folder window (Cmd+Shift+G), paste: ~/Library/Group Containers/
    • Find the folder: UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.to-doand Delete this entire folder.
    • Restart your Mac (this clears the kernel cache without needing a full Safe Mode boot).

    Verify macOS Background Permissions

MacOS Tahoe often restricts apps from writing to the database if "App Management" permissions are stale.

    • Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > App Management.
    • If Microsoft To Do is listed, toggle it OFF and then ON.
    • If it is not listed, click + and add it manually.

I hope this information proves helpful and I look forward to your response!

It seems that you are experiencing issues with Microsoft To Do on macOS Tahoe, where the application is not functioning properly despite being able to select different lists. Since you have already tried deleting the app and clearing the relevant library items, you might consider the following troubleshooting steps:

    1. Reinstall the Application: Ensure that you completely remove Microsoft To Do from your Mac, including any associated files in the Library, and then reinstall it from the official source.
    2. Check for Updates: Make sure that both your macOS and Microsoft To Do are updated to the latest versions, as updates can often resolve bugs and compatibility issues.
    3. Boot into Safe Mode: Although you mentioned not trying this, booting into Safe Mode can help determine if the issue is caused by other software or extensions.
    4. Contact Support: If the problem persists, it may be beneficial to reach out to Microsoft Support for assistance, as they can provide specific guidance based on your situation.

Since other Microsoft applications are working fine, the issue seems isolated to Microsoft To Do. Following these steps may help resolve the functionality issues you are experiencing.
