What does the error message say, specifically? If it mentions the option to Repair Now, note that that option may not work. Instead, exit all Office applications and run an Online Repair; see https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b .

If you are encountering a message asking if you would like to repair Microsoft Word, it typically indicates that there is an issue preventing Word from functioning correctly. Here are the recommended steps to resolve this issue:

    1. Exit all Office applications: Make sure that all instances of Office applications are closed before proceeding.
    2. Run an Online Repair:
      • Go to Settings (gear icon on your Start Menu).
      • Navigate to Apps, then find Microsoft Office in the list.
      • Select it and choose Modify.
      • Choose Online Repair and follow the prompts to complete the repair process. This option is more thorough than the quick repair and may resolve the issue.
    3. Reinstall Office: If the Online Repair does not fix the problem, consider completely uninstalling Office, restarting your PC (not shutting down), and then downloading and reinstalling Office from your Microsoft account.

These steps should help you resolve the issue with Microsoft Word not starting properly.
