Brightness flickering

I have a Microsoft Surface 7th edition, which I got in October. Since I got the car, the screen flickers 5-10 times an hour with the brightness changing for an instant and then going back to normal. I have automatic brightness, night light, adaptive color, and HDR all turned off, and I just changed the refresh rate to 60. None of this has completely gotten rid of the problem. Can you help me resolve this?

    Hello Joel Cox,

    Thanks for the video.

There is a small personal information that is accidentally exposed in the first part of the video. So I have moved the link to the private message box to protect any information. You can access it by clicking on the private message button.

I have watched the whole video you sent, and the screen seems to be completely static with no change whatsoever. In this case, the issue is very likely to be from the hardware. The built-in screen capture of Windows will capture the screen before they reach the physical panel (the monitor), so any physical defect will not show on them. System level issues will be recorded, however. In this case, I suggest that you bring your computer to a local technical store to be looked at, since this kind of issue won't appear even in a remote session.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Hello Joel Cox,

Thanks for getting back to me.

It'd be best if I can have a short video about the issue so I can check it better. If you decide to do so, please remove all personal information before posting.

Disclaimer: In the meantime, let’s try performing an in-place install or in-place upgrade which will refresh your Windows files and operating system without removing files or applications. That being said, we always recommend that if you have important data, you should back it up before making large system changes. If you want to back up your data first, please do so. Once you are done backing up, you can follow the steps in the following guides:

    Hello Joel Cox,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Before we proceed, may I know if this issue is associated with any specific action on your computer? (Playing a game, opening an apps or watching a specific video)?

In the meantime, can you please try to update or reinstall the graphics driver of the Surface to see if it helps with the issue?

    • Type "Device Manager" in the search bar and press Enter.
    • Find your Graphic card driver, right click on it and choose whether "Update driver" or "Uninstall driver"
    • Restart your PC.

    I'm waiting for your reply.
