If your drive is encrypted with Bitlocker, the only place the Bitlocker Recovery key is automatically stored is on the associated Microsoft account on the link below, be sure to check any Microsoft account that may have been used on the PC and also any work or school account that may be linked to the PC.

Are you able to find the Bitlocker Recovery Key on any account that may have been used or linked to the laptop?

If not, do you have a safe backup of your files, or use a cloud service like OneDrive to sync your files online.

To recover access to your laptop that is prompting for a BitLocker recovery key, you will need to locate the recovery key. Here are some common methods to find it:

    1. Microsoft Account: If your device is linked to a Microsoft account, you can check for the recovery key by logging into your account at Microsoft.com.
    2. Active Directory: If your device is part of a domain, the recovery key may be stored in Active Directory. You can contact your IT department for assistance.
    3. USB Drive: If you saved the recovery key to a USB drive, connect the drive to the laptop and follow the prompts to enter the key.
    4. Printed Copy: Check if you printed the recovery key when BitLocker was enabled.

If you cannot find the recovery key using these methods, you may need to seek help from your IT support team or the helpdesk, especially if the laptop is managed by an organization.
