Stereo Mix will not suit your needs, stereo mix in Windows is not for audio playback, it is an audio recording function, it combines all audio channels into a single stream, enabling you to record whatever audio apps on your PC are playing and it only exists if the audio chip on your motherboard supports it, it is not available on all PC's
Having trouble installing stereo mixer. Tried downloading Realtek audio driver, got an error.
Been working on this since I got this pc. Want to have output audio through 2 sources at the same time. I foolishly assumed it was a built-in feature. The only way I found online was to find and enable stereo mix and do it through that. But it's not in the hidden or disabled devices. Just not there. So went to Realtek website and downloaded the audio driver. When I open the application, it tries to do the install wizard but fails near the end "Install Realtek HD Audio Driver failure. (Error code: -0001)
Am I just stuck manually having to go into my settings to switch audio output in between speakers and headphones, whenever I want to game vs chill? I am fairly new to the world of PC's so please excuse my ignorance. Thank you in advance.

Learn moreTo enable stereo mix and output audio through two sources simultaneously, you may need to ensure that your audio drivers are correctly installed and functioning. Since you encountered an error while trying to install the Realtek audio driver, here are some steps you can take:
- Check Device Manager: Open Device Manager and verify that your audio drivers are installed and working properly. Look for any warning signs next to the audio devices.
- Update or Rollback Drivers: If you have updated your audio drivers recently, consider rolling back to a previous version that worked for you. Alternatively, you can try downloading the latest drivers from your device manufacturer's website.
- Use the Troubleshooter: Run the Playing Audio troubleshooter from the Settings app. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and see if it can identify and fix any issues.
- Reinstall the Driver: If you continue to have issues, try uninstalling the current audio driver from Device Manager and then reinstalling it. Make sure to restart your computer after uninstalling.
- Check for Hidden Devices: Sometimes, stereo mix may not appear if it's disabled. In the Sound settings, right-click in the empty area of the playback devices list and select "Show Disabled Devices" to see if it appears.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to explore alternative software solutions or hardware configurations to achieve audio output through two sources simultaneously.
