On Windows 11 Home, you can add a work or school account, but you cannot fully join the device to Microsoft Entra ID like you can with Windows 11 Pro. Home edition only allows you to connect the account to apps and services, not to “join” the device to your organization. Effectively, you'll need to continue using the local account to sign in unless you upgrade your Windows edition to Windows 11 Pro.

To add a work or school account, open Settings, go to Accounts, then select Access work or school. Click Connect and enter your work or school email address. Follow the sign-in steps. This will connect your organizational account to Microsoft 365 apps, OneDrive, Outlook, Teams, and similar services.

If you want to sign in to Windows itself using a Microsoft account instead of a local account, go to Settings, then Accounts, then Your info. If you see “Sign in with a Microsoft account instead,” select it and sign in. If your organization allows personal device sign-in, you may be able to use your work account there, but many organizations block this on Windows Home.

If your goal is to have the laptop fully managed by your company or school, including device policies and automatic enrollment, Windows 11 Home does not support Entra ID join. In that case, you would need to upgrade to Windows 11 Pro. You can upgrade by going to Settings, System, Activation, then choose Upgrade your edition of Windows. After upgrading to Pro, go to Settings, Accounts, Access work or school, click Connect, and choose “Join this device to Microsoft Entra ID.”
