Bing indexing tools show conflicting results — support tickets auto‑closing with incorrect template

My website [--PII REMOVED--] has inconsistent indexing behaviour in Bing Webmaster Tools, and the normal support form keeps auto‑closing my tickets with the “did not meet standards” template, even though this does not match the actual data.

Important context:

• The site is built on Squarespace 7.1, so I cannot use IndexNow. • The site is over 6 months old and fully live/HTTPS. • Some pages are indexed — my homepage shows impressions, clicks, and a last crawl date of 14 Feb. • However, URL Inspection shows “Discovered but not crawled” for the same URLs that Site Explorer reports as indexed. • Some URLs show “Blocked on Bing Index”, but when I run Live URL Test, Bing says the same URLs can appear on Bing. • Other pages remain unindexed and stuck in “Discovered but not crawled.” • There are no robots.txt issues, no noindex tags, and the sitemap is valid and crawled. • The support form repeatedly closes my tickets with the same automated message, and replies bounce because the inbox is no‑reply. • My account does not have the “Feedback” option in the Bing Webmaster Tools sidebar, so I cannot escalate through the portal.

This appears to be a crawl/indexing inconsistency that requires engineering review. Could a moderator please escalate this to the Bing Webmaster Tools team?

Thank you.

    Hi Stephen Hennessy,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. I'm happy to help.

Please note that our Microsoft Q&A forum is a public platform, and we will modify your response/ question to hide your personal information in the description. I really wish I could assist you directly on this issue. However, the behavior you're experiencing is tied to back‑end systems and service functionality, and unfortunately, we don't have the authority or access required to investigate or make changes at that level, also with permission to escalate your issue.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators, contributors including external Microsoft employees cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas.

Given these limitations, the most appropriate avenue for product changes or feature requests is to contact Bing Webmaster Tools support. Please read carefully about their standards and follow.

It seems you are experiencing a complex issue with Bing Webmaster Tools regarding inconsistent indexing behavior for your website. Here are some steps you can consider to address the situation:

    1. Verify Site Configuration: Ensure that your site configuration is correct, including the absence of any noindex tags and proper robots.txt settings, which you mentioned are already in order.
    2. Use URL Inspection Tool: Continue using the URL Inspection tool to check the status of your URLs. If some URLs are marked as "Discovered but not crawled," it may indicate that Bing has found the URLs but has not yet processed them for indexing. This can sometimes happen due to resource constraints on Bing's side.
    3. Submit URLs Manually: While you cannot use IndexNow due to your site being on Squarespace 7.1, you can still manually submit URLs through Bing Webmaster Tools. This may help in getting those URLs crawled.
    4. Contact Support: Since your support tickets are being auto-closed, consider reaching out through other channels, such as the Microsoft Q&A forums, where you can ask for assistance from the community and Microsoft staff. Make sure to tag your question appropriately to increase visibility.
    5. Monitor Changes: Keep an eye on any changes in indexing behavior over time. Sometimes, fluctuations can occur due to updates in Bing's algorithms or crawling schedules.
    6. Escalate the Issue: If the problem persists and you cannot get a satisfactory response from support, you might want to look for alternative ways to escalate the issue, such as reaching out via social media channels or other Microsoft support avenues.

Given the complexity of your situation, it may require a deeper investigation by Bing's engineering team.
