I want to change my login option on my laptop (Asus A409FJ). But somehow, it said "There's something wrong. Please try again later". I already restarted it, and there are no changes. What should I do?

    Hi Gallus Young Six,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

If you’re seeing messages like “Something went wrong, try again later” when changing login options (PIN, password, or Windows Hello), it usually means the sign‑in components need a quick refresh or verification. Please try the troubleshooting steps below to restore access smoothly:

1, Make sure Windows is fully up to date

    • Select Start > Settings > Windows Update
    • Select Check for updates
    • Install any available updates and restart the device

2, Reset or change your PIN (Windows Hello)

    • Select Start > Settings > Accounts > Sign‑in options
    • Expand PIN (Windows Hello)
    • Select Change PIN or I forgot my PIN and follow the prompts

3, Sign in with your password, then try again

    • On the sign‑in screen, select Sign‑in options
    • Choose Password and sign in
    • Go back to Settings > Accounts > Sign‑in options and retry the change

    4, Restart Windows Hello services

    • If Windows Hello is temporarily unresponsive, restarting its service can help.
    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, press Enter
    • Find Windows Hello Authentication Service
    • Right‑click and select Restart

5, Confirm you’re connected to the internet

    • Ensure Wi‑Fi or Ethernet is connected
    • If possible, try a different network

If you're encountering an error message when trying to change your login option on your Asus A409FJ laptop, here are a few steps you can try:

    1. Check for Updates: Ensure that your Windows is up to date. Sometimes, pending updates can cause issues with system settings.
    2. Run the Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot. Run the troubleshooter for accounts to see if it can identify and fix the issue.
    3. Use Safe Mode: Boot your laptop in Safe Mode and try changing the login option again. This can sometimes bypass issues caused by third-party software.
    4. Create a New User Account: If the issue persists, consider creating a new user account and see if you can change the login option from there.
    5. Check System Files: You can run the System File Checker tool. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type sfc /scannow to check for and repair any corrupted system files.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consider a system restore or further troubleshooting specific to your device.
