Is there any alternative to booting in safe mode and using CMD? I cannot uninstall the security update from settings - uninstall updates, or control panel - view installed updates.

    Hi, I'm Bernard, a fellow Windows user. I'm happy to help!

    The KB5074109 is a cumulative update, which means it cannot be uninstalled. The way to uninstall it is by doing a system restore wherein it will restore the PC, where it was working properly, to do that, kindly follow the steps below:

    Press the Windows key + R, then type in:

    rstrui

    Then hit OK.

    Follow the prompts and select the time and date when the PC is working fine.

    Follow the prompts again until it restores.

    Note: If the issue persists, please let me know the reason you want to uninstall the update and what is currently happening with your device.

    Hi

    You can use the command

    wusa /uninstall /kb:<KB Articel>/quiet /norestart

    To Uninstall a specific KB article via the CMD prompt.

    @Grant Gorman
    I assume you are concerned about the reported problem with KB5074109 where it causes Outlook to crash?

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/classic-outlook-profiles-with-pop-accounts-and-psts-hang-after-windows-updates-on-january-13-2026-590fe356-ecc2-49f4-b9e3-bd39fafa58f6

    But you tagged your Question as "New Outlook for Windows" and the problems with KB5074109 were confined to Classic Outlook for Windows. (See below to see what version you have)

    If you do have Classic Outlook for Windows, there is no need to uninstall KB5074109. An update with a fix has already been released KB5078127 (Win11) and KB5078129 (Win10).

    What version of Outlook do you have?
