If your drive is encrypted with Bitlocker, the only place the Bitlocker Recovery key is automatically stored is on the associated Microsoft account on the link below, be sure to check any Microsoft account that may have been used on the PC and also any work or school account that may be linked to the PC.

Are you able to find the Bitlocker Recovery Key on any account that may have been used or linked to the laptop?

If not, do you have a safe backup of your files, or use a cloud service like OneDrive to sync your files online.

If your PC is not listed in your Microsoft account for retrieving the BitLocker recovery key, you can try the following steps:

    1. Check Other Accounts: If you have multiple Microsoft accounts, make sure you are signed into the correct one that may have the recovery key associated with it.
    2. Check for Local Backup: If you have saved your BitLocker recovery key to a USB drive or printed it out, check those locations.
    3. Contact IT Support: If your device is managed by an organization, contact your IT department or administrator for assistance in retrieving the key.
    4. Use Recovery Options: If you cannot find the key, you may need to consider recovery options such as using a recovery image or reinstalling Windows, but this will result in data loss if the drive is encrypted with BitLocker.
    5. Surface Recovery: If you are using a Surface device, you can download the Surface recovery image and follow the instructions to create a USB recovery drive, which may help in accessing your system without the key.

Make sure to follow these steps carefully to avoid data loss or further complications.
