I have literally tried everything. My whole life is in my emails and Microsoft are controlling every aspect of it. Whilst I appreciate the "concerns" it is my responsibility to keep my account safe and not Microsofts to tell me what is suspicious and what isn't. I'm now left 11 days of having no access to my emails and ripping my hair out. This is totally unacceptable and to not even be able to speak to a human is beyond incompetent. I am told to contact support when its an automated service just telling me to wait 24 hours. how many 24 hours do I need to wait. Shocking system and even worse customer service.

    Hi Alina Schofield

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how distressing when your email contains critical personal information and you have already spent many days trying repeated steps without getting a clear resolution.

Based on your description, your account appears to have been temporarily locked due to suspicious activity detected by Microsoft’s automated security systems. In these cases, the repeated “wait 24 hours” message usually indicates a security cooldown, not a guaranteed unlock after each 24‑hour period. Additional sign‑in attempts during this time can reset the cooldown, which is why the lock may persist longer than expected.

It’s important to set clear expectations: contributors and moderators in this forum do not have access to Microsoft’s internal account systems and cannot unlock or review accounts directly. However, the following are the official and appropriate paths to have your account reviewed.

1, Submit the Account Reinstatement request for review

If you have not already done so, submit the Account Reinstatement form to request a formal review of the lock or disablement. Please provide only relevant details and avoid including sensitive personal information in the free text fields. You can access the form here: https://www.microsoft.com/digitalsafety/account-reinstatement

    2, Contact Microsoft Support

For personal accounts, the practical way to speak with a support representative is typically the live chat option. Please follow below steps to reach an agent for further assistance:

1, Visit the Microsoft Support contact page: Contact - Microsoft Support

2, In the search bar provided on the page, type "Account recovery" and press Enter.

3, Click on the "Get Help" button that appears.

4, Scroll down the page until you see and click on the "Contact Support" option.

5, When prompted to select your product or service, choose "Other Products".

6, For the category, choose "Manage account security".

7, Look for and click on "Chat with a support agent in your web browser".

8, Confirm your personal email when prompted - this is the email Microsoft will use to communicate with you during and after the support session.

9, When connected, clearly explain your situation. Be concise but include all relevant details

As additional reference for account lock scenarios, you can review: Microsoft account has been locked

I hope this provides a clear path to get your account reviewed and to reach a live support agent through the correct channel.
