Hello Microsoft Support,

I am experiencing an issue with multi-factor authentication on my account [Moderator note: personal info removed]

@techpathlabs.com.

I previously had the Microsoft Authenticator app installed and linked to this account. However, I deleted the app from my phone and later reinstalled it. After reinstalling, my account no longer appears in the Authenticator app, and I am unable to receive or approve sign-in requests.

As a result, I cannot access my Microsoft account services, including Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams, because I am unable to complete the authentication process.

I no longer have access to the previous Authenticator configuration and need assistance resetting or reconfiguring my multi-factor authentication settings so I can regain access to my account.

Please let me know what steps are required to verify my identity and restore access.

Thank you for your assistance.

    Hello @Nazar Tymochko,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I’m truly sorry for the inconvenience and frustration this issue has caused. Based on the information you shared, it appears that you are currently unable to access to your tenant due to reinstall authenticator application.

To gain access to your account again, please help me to contact directly to your IT Admin so they could help you to "require re-register your authentication methods" (Manage authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication

However, if you are the only admin of the tenant, our Data Protection team can support you in this matter by using established tools and processes to verify your identity and help restore secure access to your administrator account.

Please note that forum moderators have no control over user accounts, especially when it comes to logging in to your account, resetting your password, changing your access, etc.

Therefore, please try to find the related hotline number to call the frontline let them raise a ticket for you: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support

Here are some tips and an example of a prompt to help you navigate the IVR more effectively:

(When you call the support number, you may hear an introduction of about 30 seconds such as "you can visit the link...". You can ignore this introduction and wait until you are presented with the options. Then press "1" as a business email user, and again "1" for technical help.)

In some regions, the initial interaction may be automated, so here’s a general idea of how the conversation might go to help you prepare:

What kind of problem are you experiencing?

    Answer: Authenticator

    What products do you use?

    Answer: Office 365 for business

Is this for an education or company account?

    Answer: For companies

    Are you an administrator?

    Answer: Yes

Are there any other administrators in your organization?

Answer: No. I am the only admin in my tenant

Do you need a... Service request?

Answer: Yes. I need to create a ticket. Please send me direct to the Data Protection Teams.

If your organization's Office 365 Business/Education subscription is from a partner or reseller, and the global administrator is unable to open a service request on your end, contact the reseller's support provider to help open a service request on behalf of you instead.

I hope this information helps you take the right steps to regain access to your account. If you have any updates or additional details, please feel free to leave a comment under this post. I’ll be happy to assist further within my scope.

To regain access to your Microsoft account after reinstalling the Microsoft Authenticator app, you will need to reset your multi-factor authentication (MFA) settings. Since you no longer have access to the previous configuration, here are the steps you can take:

    1. Contact Microsoft Support: Since you are unable to access your account, the best course of action is to reach out to Microsoft Data Protection Support. You can do this by calling their customer service. Make sure to explain that you are the administrator and that you need assistance with resetting your MFA settings.
    2. Provide Verification Information: Be prepared to verify your identity. This may include providing details about your account and confirming that you are the legitimate owner.
    3. Alternative Method: If you are unable to reach a live agent, consider creating a temporary account (trial tenant) to submit a support ticket. This involves signing up for a new Microsoft 365 trial subscription, which will allow you to access the admin console and raise a support request on behalf of your locked account.
    4. Follow the IVR Prompts: When you call support, follow the prompts carefully. You may need to specify that you are having issues with the Authenticator app and confirm that you are the sole administrator of your account.

These steps should help you regain access to your Microsoft account services, including Outlook and Teams.
