    Hi Vladimir Kukov

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

From your description, you can add and use your “private” email address(es) in classic Outlook for Windows, but those same addresses are not available or usable after switching to the new Outlook for Windows. I understand how confusing this is, especially when both apps appear similar.

In general, the new Outlook for Windows does not yet include every account-related capability that exists in classic Outlook, and some behaviors can differ between the two experiences. You can review Microsoft’s feature coverage matrix here: Feature comparison between new Outlook and classic Outlook - Microsoft Support.

If your “private email” is a separate mailbox from another provider (for example Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, or any provider using IMAP), it needs to be added explicitly as an additional account in the new Outlook for Windows. Please try the steps below:

    • Open new Outlook
    • Go to View tab and open View settings (or File tab if shown)
    • Select Accounts, then Your accounts
    • Under Email accounts, select Add account and sign in with that private email address

These steps are documented here: Add an email account to Outlook for Windows - Microsoft Support

If the same private email works as expected in classic Outlook but does not appear or function in the new Outlook after being added, this typically points to a difference in feature support between the two Outlook experiences rather than an issue with the email account itself. In that case, the feature comparison article above is the best official reference for the current limitations.

To help narrow this down precisely, could you please confirm whether your “private emails” are separate third‑party mailboxes that you added to Outlook (such as IMAP accounts)? In addition, when you try to add that account in the new Outlook for Windows, do you see any message or prompt during the sign‑in or setup process? If so, please share the exact wording shown. This will help ensure the guidance matches your exact setup.

I hope this clarifies why you’re seeing different behavior and how to proceed.

Yeah, that happens because the new Outlook doesn’t fully support some private IMAP/POP accounts yet. They work in Classic Outlook but can fail in the new one. Usually the only options are adding it with manual IMAP settings or just sticking with Classic Outlook for now.
