When installing the new version of outlook to my pc after 10min it deletes itself from my pc entirely and I am required to install it again. Is there a setting that needs to be changed or is something not configured properly?

    Hi @Nicholas Bongers

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum and thank you for taking the time to share what’s happening with Outlook on your PC.

I completely understand how concerning it can be when Outlook installs successfully but then disappear just a few minutes later, especially when you need to get back to your email quickly.

Based on what you’ve described, along with the Microsoft Intune Management Extension notification you’re seeing, it’s very likely that your device is being managed by an organization and that an Intune policy, app assignment, or remediation script is automatically uninstalling the app shortly after installation.

Since the new Outlook is delivered as a Microsoft Store/MSIX application, organizations can control its installation, removal, and availability through device‑management policies. Therefore, if your device belongs to a group that has an Uninstall assignment or a script targeting the app package, Outlook may be removed even if you manually install it.

Here are a few steps you can try to check:

    1) Check which Outlook version is being removed

Please go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps and check whether the disappearing application is “Outlook for Windows” (the new Outlook) or the classic Outlook included in Microsoft 365 Apps.  This helps identify whether an Intune policy is specifically removing the MSIX Store version.

    2) Verify whether the device is managed

Navigate to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school and check if you see a work or school connection.  Since you’re receiving an Intune Management Extension notification, this strongly suggests that the PC is enrolled in device management, as this component handles Intune app deployments and script actions.

    3) Contact Microsoft support

Since you have checked all the steps, but the issue still persists, I believe Microsoft Support Engineering should step in to investigate further. Please reach out to them directly.

    • Ticket Support: In the Microsoft 365 Admin Center>Support>Help & Support. You can raise support ticket. Please note that you’ll need an account with admin rights to sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.
    • Phone Support: Microsoft provides customer service phone numbers based on your region. You can find the appropriate contact number here.

Additionally, the next pieces of information that would be most helpful to look at are:

To understand precisely what triggered the uninstall, it would be very helpful if you could collect and share the Intune Management Extension logs. How to gather the logs:

    1. Open Run (Windows key + R).
    2. Paste this path: %ProgramData%\Microsoft\IntuneManagementExtension\Logs
    3. The logs are stored under:  C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\IntuneManagementExtension\Logs

Please look for IntuneManagementExtension.log and copy/paste the entries around the time Outlook disappears.  If possible, sharing a screenshot of the Intune toast notification (along with the approximate time it appeared) would also be very helpful.

If this is a work-managed PC

Your IT admin can usually resolve the issue quickly by checking:

    • Whether Outlook for Windows has been assigned an Uninstall action for your user or device (directly or through a group).
    • Whether any Intune remediation or PowerShell script is running Remove-AppxPackage or Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage against the package Microsoft.OutlookForWindows.
    • Whether the organization has policies that block the acquisition or usage of the new Outlook.

For reference, Microsoft provides official guidance on managing the new Outlook, including controlling installation/removal and supported deployment methods:

It sounds like there may be a policy or configuration issue that is causing the new Outlook to be uninstalled automatically after installation. Here are a few potential reasons and solutions:

    1. Policy Restrictions: If your organization has policies in place that restrict app installations, this could lead to the new Outlook being removed. Check for any Group Policy settings or registry keys that might be blocking the installation. Notable keys include BlockNonAdminUserInstall and AllowAllTrustedApps. If AllowAllTrustedApps is disabled, the installation may fail.
    2. Installation Issues: Ensure that there are no security policies or software (like AppLocker or antivirus programs) blocking the installation. The installer needs to execute properly without being hindered by security settings.
    3. Firewall and Proxy Settings: Make sure that your firewall or proxy settings are not blocking access to the necessary Microsoft servers for downloading and updating the new Outlook.
    4. Check for Existing Installations: If there are remnants of previous Outlook installations, they might interfere with the new installation. Ensure that any old versions are completely removed before attempting to install the new version.
    5. Update Windows: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date, as certain updates may include fixes for installation issues related to the new Outlook.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consult with your IT department or refer to the Microsoft documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
