The previous answer is already good. Just to add, you may not be receiving codes in the Microsoft Authenticator app because an old device is still listed in your account’s security settings. To check this:
- On a desktop, go to https://account.microsoft.com/security
- Click Manage how I sign in, under Ways to prove who you are, review your registered devices and remove any old or unused devices.
- Make sure your current device is added.
- Open the Authenticator app on your phone, sign out, then sign back in. This often resolves the issue if codes were being sent to a previous device.
Before signing out of the Authenticator app, make sure you have another way to sign in to your account, such as a backup verification method or recovery options, to avoid being locked out.
