1/ Quick isolation test (helps confirm whether this is browser/session related)
- Open OneNote for the web in a Private/Incognito window
- Then test clicking a hyperlink again.
If links open correctly there, the cause is commonly an extension or cached site data.
2/ Temporarily disable extensions that may intercept clicks/links
Please disable extensions, especially:
- Ad blockers (AdBlock/uBlock)
- Privacy/script blockers (Ghostery/Privacy Badger/NoScript-type tools)
- “Open links in…” helper extensions
After disabling, refresh OneNote for the web and test the link again.
3/ Short-term option if you need consistent link navigation right away:
If you’re working heavily with links, using Open in OneNote (desktop app) is typically the most consistent experience while we isolate the web behavior.
