i purchased a new computer 2 years ago which came with windows 10 pro pre installed. I updated to windows 11 pro without any problems. Everything has been working fine until a recent update after which my key had disappeared and despite trying everything recommended by copilot I am unable to recover the key.

Where did you get your Windows licence was that pre-installed on the PC or did you purchase a full retail Windows licence from Microsoft or from a 3rd party retailer?

Or is your Windows licence based on a previous Windows 7 or 8 licence?

Click your Start Button, type cmd then right click Command Prompt and choose 'Run as Administrator'

Run or paste this command and hit Enter:

    slmgr.vbs /dlv

Please post a screenshot of the resulting dialog

If your Windows product key has disappeared after an update, there are several steps you can take to try to recover it:

    1. Check the System Registry: The product key is usually embedded in the system registry. You can retrieve it by running a command in an elevated Command Prompt. Use the command wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey to see if it displays your original product key.
    2. Digital License: If your Windows 10 Pro was activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account, you might not need the product key. Simply signing in with the same Microsoft account on your new installation should reactivate Windows automatically.
    3. Activation Troubleshooter: You can also try using the Activation Troubleshooter. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation and select "Troubleshoot" to see if it helps in reactivating your Windows.
    4. Contact Microsoft Support: If the above steps do not work, you may need to contact Microsoft support. They can help you recover your digital license or provide further assistance.

These steps should help you in recovering your product key or reactivating your Windows installation after the update.
