I need you to reactivate my existing tenant so I can regain access to my Outlook mailbox. I have attempted to follow the instructions available online but the "reactivate subscription" is greyed out. What do I do?

    Dear @Jennifer M,

Good day. Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Forum. I am happy to help you!

First, may I ask whether you have already followed the steps outlined in this article: Reactivate your subscription in the Microsoft 365 admin center. If not, please refer to it and check whether the steps work for you.

In addition, I noticed that you mentioned you had already followed some online instructions. Could you please clarify which specific guidance or article you referred to, and what steps you have already attempted?

In this situation, the best way to further troubleshoot it is to report it to the related team. I sincerely recommend you try to create a support ticket from Microsoft 365 Admin Center>Support>New Service Request. You can raise support ticket from: https://admin.microsoft.com/#/support/request

The support team over there has higher permission than us to investigate the issue from background, they have more resource and correct escalation channel in handling this kind of issues. This would be a more efficient way in handling the case for you.

    Please kindly follow these steps:

1.Visit Microsoft 365 Business Support: Get support for Microsoft 365 for business

2.When contacting support, clearly explain that:

    • Your Microsoft 365 business tenant is disabled
    • The “Reactivate subscription” option is greyed out
    • You need assistance restoring access to your Outlook mailbox

3.Be prepared to verify ownership of the tenant, which may include:

    • Proof of domain ownership
    • Previous billing or subscription information
    • Tenant name or tenant ID

Only Microsoft’s backend support teams can confirm whether the tenant is still within a recoverable state and perform reactivation if eligible.

Please understand that as forum moderator, my primary goal is to provide helpful guidance and support through general troubleshooting steps. While I don’t have access to internal systems required to resolve account issues, I truly appreciate your understanding of these limitations. I genuinely hope the information I share helps guide you in the right direction, and I'm always here to assist as much as I can within my scope.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification.

Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated. Thank you for your precious time. Have a nice day!

If the "reactivate subscription" option is greyed out, it may indicate that your subscription cannot be reactivated due to its current status. Here are some steps you can take:

    1. Check Subscription Status: Ensure that your subscription is indeed in a state that allows reactivation. If it has been deleted, it cannot be reactivated.
    2. Billing Account Type: Verify the type of billing account you have (MCA or MOSA) as the steps to reactivate may differ based on this. You can find out your billing account type here.
    3. Admin Role: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions. For MCA accounts, you must be a Billing account owner or contributor. For MOSA accounts, you need to be at least a Billing Administrator.
    4. Contact Support: If you are still unable to reactivate your subscription, it may be best to contact Microsoft support for assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your account situation.

Following these steps should help you determine the next course of action to regain access to your Outlook mailbox.
