To transfer your Windows license to a new setup after updating your motherboard and CPU, you can use your retail product key from Windows 7. This key should still be valid for activation on your new hardware, as long as it was a retail version and not an OEM version tied to the original hardware. However, keep in mind that since September 2023, the loophole for free upgrades from Windows 7 to Windows 10 or 11 has been closed, meaning you will need a valid license for the new hardware.

When installing Windows 11, you can select the option to enter a product key and input your Windows 7 key during the installation process. If you encounter any issues, you may also consider using your Microsoft account if it is linked to your Windows license.

Make sure to back up your data before proceeding with the installation to avoid any data loss during the transition.
