    Dear PIERROT ABOU AAD

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum. I understand you are having a problem adding your Hotmail address to Gmail for “send mail as,” and Gmail reports the connection is rejected by Outlook servers. I am happy to assist you. Please follow these steps:

    • If Gmail is asking for a password and it keeps getting rejected, use an app password
      • If your Hotmail/Outlook.com account has 2‑step verification enabled, Gmail cannot use your normal password. You must create an App Password here: https://account.live.com/proofs/AppPassword. Use that App Password in Gmail > Add another email address > SMTP settings.
    • If you have not enabled two-step verification yet, enable it first (required to use app passwords)
      • Turn on two-step verification from the Security tab of your Microsoft account and note it changes sign-in behavior for better protection. After it’s enabled, you can use app passwords where needed.
    • If you are trying to add Hotmail to Gmail as an email “account” (IMAP/POP), use Microsoft’s published POP/IMAP settings

To add your Hotmail email to Gmail and send emails from that address, you need to ensure that your Hotmail account is properly configured to allow access. Here are some steps you can follow:

    1. Enable IMAP in Hotmail: Make sure that IMAP is enabled in your Hotmail settings. This is crucial for Gmail to connect to your Hotmail account.
    2. Use App Passwords: If you have two-step verification enabled on your Hotmail account, you may need to generate an app password to use with Gmail. This password is different from your regular Hotmail password.
    3. Check SMTP Settings: Ensure that you are using the correct SMTP settings for Hotmail. The SMTP server for Hotmail is usually smtp.live.com with port 587.
    4. Authentication: Make sure that you are authenticating properly. Gmail needs to log in to your Hotmail account before sending emails, so ensure that the option to log on to the incoming server before sending mail is enabled.

If you continue to face issues, it may be helpful to check for any specific error messages that could guide further troubleshooting steps.
