An application or feature powered by Windows Copilot to assist users with tasks and productivity
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
Regarding your issue, as forum moderator I want to clarify a bit, while a Microsoft 365 Family subscription can be shared with up to five additional members, Copilot benefits included with the Family plan are only available to the account that originally purchased and manages the subscription. Shared family members do not receive that Copilot entitlement.
Because of this, a family member (non‑owner) cannot independently “enable” or inherit Copilot from the Family plan, even if they are actively using the Office apps under that subscription.
If you would like Copilot access tied specifically to your Microsoft account, the available options are:
- Purchase your own Microsoft 365 Personal (Individual) plan, which makes your account the subscription owner and includes Copilot benefits for you.
- Alternatively, if offered in your region, purchase Copilot Pro as a separate add‑on for your own Microsoft account. Copilot Pro is licensed per account and is not shared through a Family subscription.
This is why you are consistently being directed to an Individual/Personal plan it is currently the supported way for a Family member to have Copilot access under their own account.
