New laptop help- Microsoft GameInput

I have just bought a new laptop, installed Minecraft (launcher plus java plus bedrock). However when I try and start bedrock from the launcher I get several pop ups:

  • One saying "Microsoft GameInput: Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one."
  • One saying "Microsoft Gameinput: Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Gameinput".
  • One saying "Installing Dependencies: Installing 1 of 1". This one has a progress bar that does not progress at all despite leaving it for 30 minutes.

If I cancel all these bedrock does open, however it then says "Error: Your game is missing a required component. To resolve this, choose Install to initiate installation and restart the game". It shows me an "Install" button in the Minecraft wrapper that then...doesn't do anything when I click it.

This is a really poor and frustrating experience for something that should be super easy. Can anyone help??

Resetting the computer should fix it, but this is a last resort.
Did you restart the computer after following any advice? It is a good measure to ensure the fix did not work.

Let me know the error messages you see or how it works.

It seems like you're encountering issues with the installation of Microsoft GameInput while trying to launch Bedrock from the Minecraft launcher. Here are some steps you can take to resolve these issues:

    1. Complete Any Ongoing Installations: The error message indicates that another installation is in progress. Make sure to complete or cancel any other installations that may be running in the background. You can check this in the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) under the "Processes" tab.
    2. Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve installation issues by clearing any locked processes.
    3. Run Windows Update: Ensure your Windows 11 is fully updated. Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates. Installing the latest updates can resolve compatibility issues.
    4. Check for Game Dependencies: If the game is missing components, try reinstalling the game or checking for any additional dependencies that may need to be installed. You can also try running the game as an administrator by right-clicking the Minecraft launcher and selecting "Run as administrator".
    5. Reinstall Microsoft GameInput: If the issue persists, you might want to uninstall and then reinstall Microsoft GameInput. This can sometimes resolve corrupted installations.
    6. Check Disk Space: Ensure that you have enough disk space available on your laptop for the game and its dependencies to install properly.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Microsoft support for further assistance.
