I haven't been able to get the audio on my samsung tv while mirroring from my laptop. It used to work perfectly. When I check output under sound settings, my samsung tv is not listed and it's not even available under "add a device"

    Welcome Lori Shandle-Fox,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your Samsung TV no longer appears as an audio output device when mirroring from your Windows 11 laptop, even though this previously worked.

To speed up the resolution, please confirm the following:

    • Are you mirroring the screen using Wireless Display (Win + K) or a physical HDMI cable?
    • Did this start after a recent Windows update or Samsung TV firmware update?

Regarding your case, I can see that QA Assist has already provided some helpful troubleshooting steps. Besides, you might also consider the following options

Option 1: Verify audio device visibility

    • Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray and select Sound settings
    • Under Output, select All sound devices
    • Check if the Samsung TV appears under Disabled devices and enable it if shown

Option 2: Restart Windows audio services

    • Press Windows key + R > type services.msc > and press Enter
    • Restart Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

    Option 3: Reset projection-related settings

    • Go to Settings > System> select Projecting to this PC
    • Temporarily set it to Available everywhere, then restart the PC and test again

Option 4: Check graphics driver projection support

    • Open Device Manager from the Start menu > expand Display adapters
    • Right-click the graphics adapter and select Properties
    • Under Driver, select Roll Back Driver if available, then restart

Option 5: Test with a new local user profile

    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account
    • Click “I don’t have this person’s sign‑in info”
    • Choose “Add a user without a Microsoft account”
    • Enter username + password > Next
    • Sign in to the new account and test wireless display audio again

I really hope that the information I gave above was helpful to you. Please feel free to reply below and let me know if you have further concern on this matter.

If your Samsung TV is not showing up as an audio output device while mirroring from your laptop, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check Device Compatibility: Ensure that your Samsung TV is compatible with the mirroring feature you are using. If it was working before, verify that no recent updates or changes have affected this compatibility.
    2. Network Settings: Make sure that both your laptop and Samsung TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Sometimes, devices may not appear if they are on different networks.
    3. Add a Device: If your TV is not listed under sound settings, try selecting "Add a device" again to see if it can detect your Samsung TV.
    4. Update Drivers: Ensure that your audio drivers on the laptop are up to date. You can check this in Device Manager and look for any updates for your audio drivers.
    5. Registry Key for Non-Certified Devices: If your device isn’t certified for Windows 8 or 8.1, you might need to add a registry key to enable it. This can sometimes help in making the device visible for audio output. However, modifying the registry should be done carefully, and it's advisable to back it up first.
    6. Restart Devices: Restart both your laptop and Samsung TV. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
    7. Troubleshoot Audio: You can also run the audio troubleshooter in Windows to detect and fix any issues automatically. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and select the audio troubleshooter.

If none of these steps work, it may be helpful to consult the user manual for your TV or check Samsung's support for further assistance.
