I tried to subscribe to my Microsoft 365 Personal account 10 days ago. Unfortunately, the subscription was activated successfully, but my laptop already has Microsoft Office basic software installed, so this subscription is not required.

Therefore, I kindly request you to cancel the subscription and refund the amount of INR 6,998 at the earliest.

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Microsoft 365 Basic is mainly for OneDrive storage and Outlook email online. It only lets you use Office in a web browser. It does not include the full desktop apps.

Microsoft 365 Personal gives you full Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on your laptop. It lets you edit and save without limits. It also includes 1 TB of storage.

So even if Office is already installed, it still needs Personal to work fully.

Now, here are the important questions.

    1. Can you edit files without seeing “Activate” or “Subscribe”?
    2. When you open Word and go to File > Account, does it show “Microsoft 365 Personal”?

If yes, then your subscription is active and useful. You may not need to cancel it.

If you only use Office in a browser, then you may cancel and request a refund.

Please check and tell me what you see. I will help you with the next step.

To request a refund for your Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, you will need to follow these steps:

    1. Contact Microsoft Support: Since refunds typically require direct assistance from Microsoft, it is best to reach out to their customer support team.
    2. Visit the Refund Page: You can refer to the Microsoft support article on how to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription. This will guide you through the process.
    3. Provide Necessary Information: Be prepared to provide details about your subscription, including the amount charged and the reason for the refund request.

Please note that the refund process may take some time, and you should retain any confirmation emails or documentation related to your subscription and refund request.
