I parchased a new to me HP Elitebook 840 G8 to replace my Hp Elitebook 840 G3 which quit working due to a hardware failure. The new notebook is showing as activated with a digital licence linked to my Microsoft account, however it does not appear in my Microsoft account when I log in. When I try to register it manually on the Microsoft account it will not accept the serial number and register the device.

There has been a problem for some time with users devices not showing on their account. You can only manually add a Microsoft device. There's nothing we can do until Microsoft sort out the problem at the their end.

It seems that you are experiencing issues with registering your new HP Elitebook 840 G8 to your Microsoft account, even though it shows as activated with a digital license. This situation can occur for several reasons, including the device not being properly linked to your Microsoft account or issues with the serial number during the registration process.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Check Device List: Ensure that your previous device (HP Elitebook 840 G3) has been removed from your Microsoft account. Sometimes, devices need to be removed before adding a new one.
    2. Use the Activation Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation, and run the Activation Troubleshooter. This might help in re-establishing the link between your device and your Microsoft account.
    3. Contact Microsoft Support: If the device still does not appear in your account, it may be necessary to contact Microsoft support for assistance. They can help verify the digital license and ensure it is correctly linked to your account.
    4. Manual Registration: When manually registering, make sure you are entering the correct serial number. Double-check for any typos or formatting issues.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, contacting support may be the most effective way to get your device registered properly.
