Find an invoice from the invoice number without knowing the account

I have an invoice number from a recurring billing to a credit card through PayPal. This charge is not coming from my current Microsoft account. It is possible that I have another account that I don't remember.

How do I find what account is charging this? The "Investigate" page couldn't find it.

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

You may follow the guide on the official Microsoft website to investigate and locate the charge from Microsoft on this link:

    https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/how-to-investigate-a-billing-charge-from-microsoft-398c5328-364c-d5e4-ea8f-f5ad60562a93

If you're able to find the transaction and if it is an unwanted subscription renewal, you can check if it is eligible for a refund through this link:

    https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/how-to-get-a-refund-on-a-microsoft-subscription-67dca30b-b323-44d5-acc2-e02f9902c472

You may also try contacting Microsoft Support for further assistance in tracking the transaction:

    https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact?SourceApp=smc2&ContactUsExperienceEntryPointAssetId=S.HP.SmcContactUsLanding

Type "Billing Issue" > click "Get Help" > Scroll down to Sign in to Contact Support > Microsoft 365 and Office > Billing and Payment Updates > Confirm > Chat with a support agent in your web browser

If you and the Support Team are unable to find the transaction in all of your accounts, you'll need to contact your financial institution/bank directly to dispute it, and they may process a refund, as this would be considered a fraudulent charge.

You may also need to have your card blocked and request a new one.

Thank you for your understanding! Please let me know if you need anything else.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl

To find an invoice associated with a charge from a different Microsoft account, you can follow these steps:

    1. Check Your Email: Look for any emails from Microsoft that might be associated with the account in question. Sometimes invoices are sent via email.
    2. Use the Azure Portal: If you suspect the charge is related to an Azure subscription, sign in to the Azure portal and search for the invoice number in the search bar. This may help you locate the invoice if it belongs to a different subscription or billing profile.
    3. Switch Directories: If you have access to multiple Microsoft accounts, try switching directories in the Azure portal to see if the invoice appears under a different account.
    4. Contact Support: If you are unable to find the invoice through the above methods, consider creating a support request through the Azure portal or Microsoft 365 admin center for further assistance.
    5. Dispute with PayPal: If you believe the charge is fraudulent and cannot locate the account, you may need to contact PayPal to dispute the charge and investigate further.

These steps should help you track down the account associated with the charge.
