Hi Diana Koppes,
Are you using the username and PW that you use to login to those computers? Are your accounts local or using MSA to login?

I HAVE 2 COMPUTERS ON THE SAME PRIVATE NETWORK AND I'M TRYING TO TRANSFER FILES FROM ONE TO THE OTHER. I CAN SEE BOTH COMPUTERS ON THE NETWORK. WHEN I CLICK ON THE FIRST COMPUTER I AM ASKED FOR NETWORK CREDENTIALS. I HAVE THE CORRECT USERNAME BUT WRONG PASSWORD. I WENT TO CREDENTIAL MANAGER, WINDOWS CREDENTIALS, I SEE THE MS ACCT USERNAME, AND I CLICKED ON IT. I CANNOT SEE THE PASSWORD. IT'S JUST *** AND I HAVE TRIED ALL THE POSSIBILITIES WITHOUT SUCCESS. CAN I EDIT THE GENERIC CREDENTIAL PASSWORD AND STILL HAVE ACCESS TO EVERYTHING, ETC.?

Dear @Diana Koppes,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
I apologize for any inconvenience you may encounter when using our services/ products. Based on your description:
You can change (“Edit”) a saved credential, but Windows will not show you the existing password (the *** is by design). For Windows Credentials / network shares, there is no built-in “Show password” option; you typically only get Edit or Remove.
After editing, please check if you can reconnect it.
I sincerely hope you understand that the initial steps I suggested may not have completely fixed the issue, as there may still be underlying causes that have not yet been identified. I am here to work closely with you, troubleshoot effectively, and explore every possible solution to ensure the best possible outcome.
