Microsoft Authenticator

I am an avid cruiser and recently tried my luck at working while at sea. The issue is that the internet package that I purchased only accommodated 1 device at the time. This presented a problem because when I had to access my authenticator code, I needed to use the internet on a different device. If I logged out of my laptop (that was using the internet) to get the code from my phone, I would have to start over again on my laptop because I logged out of the internet. Is there anyway to combat this issue? I would really like to work while cruising, if nothing else but to save my PTO, lol.

To address the issue of needing to access your Microsoft Authenticator code while using a single internet connection on a cruise, consider the following options:

    1. Use Microsoft Authenticator App: The Microsoft Authenticator app can generate verification codes even when your device has no internet connection. This means you can log in on your laptop without needing to switch internet connections. Make sure the app is installed and set up on your phone before you lose internet access.
    2. Phone Call Verification: If your account supports it, you can opt for phone call verification instead of relying solely on the Authenticator app. This way, you can receive a call with the verification code without needing to access the internet on your phone.
    3. Backup Codes: Some services provide backup codes that you can use for authentication. If you have these codes saved beforehand, you can use them to log in without needing the Authenticator app.
    4. Switch Devices: If possible, consider switching the device that is connected to the internet to your phone, allowing you to access the Authenticator app on your laptop.

By utilizing the Microsoft Authenticator app's offline capabilities or exploring alternative verification methods, you can effectively manage your authentication needs while working at sea.
