Added a payment method to my azure for student subscription

I’m using Azure for Students for school. At some point my account said I had used all my credits so Azure asked me to add a credit card. I added one but I was charged €0.

After that it asked me to upgrade to Pay-As-You-Go but I clicked cancel and didn’t upgrade.

About 15 minutes later I checked again and my student credits were back for some reasons. It now shows €0 used out of €84.

Just wondering if anyone’s had this before? am I safe as long as I didn’t upgrade, or could my card still be charged? Is there a way i can safely delete my payment method without it cancelling my subscription?

    Hi Aya Boutaarourte
If you have not upgraded to PAYG, you will not be charged and if you want to delete the card, please follow the below document
To confirm you have not upgraded to PAYG:
Go to subscription-> overview-> check your plan

It seems that your Azure for Students subscription has returned your credits after you added a payment method, which can happen if the system resets or re-evaluates your account status. Since you did not upgrade to a Pay-As-You-Go subscription, you should not be charged for any usage as long as your credits are active and available.

Regarding the payment method, if you want to remove it without canceling your subscription, you should check the Azure portal for options to manage your payment methods. However, it's important to note that if you remove the payment method and your credits run out, you may lose access to Azure services unless you upgrade or add a new payment method.

To ensure you are safe, keep an eye on your account balance and any notifications from Azure regarding your subscription status. If you have further concerns, contacting Azure support would be a good step for personalized assistance.
