    Hi Angelo Michele,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum. I know seeing a BitLocker recovery screen can be stressful, especially when you’re just trying to get into your device or boot into Safe Mode.

The first thing I recommend is checking the Microsoft account(s) that may have been used on this device. BitLocker typically saves the recovery key to the Microsoft account that was signed in when encryption was first enabled. If you’ve ever signed in with more than one account, it’s important to check each one. From another device, you can go to the recovery key page and look for a key that matches the Key ID shown on your screen. Please check this guidance for further details: Find your BitLocker recovery key

If this is a work or school device or if it was ever connected to a company account, the recovery key may be stored with your organization instead. In that case, your IT or helpdesk team would be the ones who can retrieve it for you, since it’s kept in their secure system.

I do want to be upfront about one important point. For security reasons, BitLocker recovery keys can’t be recreated or bypassed, even by Microsoft support. If the key can’t be found in any of the locations above, the only remaining option would be to reset the device, which would remove existing data. I know that’s not what anyone wants, which is why checking all possible key locations first is so important.

Please let me know what you find after checking the accounts or whether this is a work‑managed device. I’m here to help you figure out the safest next step.

If you are unable to find your BitLocker recovery key in your Windows account, there are a few steps you can take:

    1. Check Other Locations: The BitLocker recovery key may be saved in different locations. It could be stored in your Microsoft account, printed out, saved to a USB drive, or in a file. Make sure to check all possible locations.
    2. Use the Find My BitLocker Recovery Key Tool: You can use the tool provided by Microsoft to help locate your recovery key. This tool can guide you through the process of finding it based on where it might be stored.
    3. Contact Support: If you still cannot find the key, you may need to contact Microsoft support for further assistance. However, they cannot unlock the device without the recovery key.
    4. Recovery Image: If none of the options to find your key are available, you may need to consider using a recovery image, which could result in data loss.

It's important to keep a backup of your recovery key in a safe place to avoid such situations in the future.
