Hello,

we are experiencing serious issues with the latest windows update. The devices are showing blackscreen / freezing at random moments and seems like a random error code too, sometimes we get irql_not_less_or_equal ntoskrnl.exe, other devices show hypervisor_error (0x20001), could be 1 minute after login or 5 or 20.. I uninstalled the latest patch(feb 2026) on a few devices but the issue still occurs after uninstall..

Next i tried to reimage the devices but that is also now failing..we can deploy windows to the device using sccm but from OOBE screen when intune starts to install, the system freezes... our deployment through sccm has not changed since last year september (the build installed here is 26100.4951.), the deployment uses driver packs from the HP ftp site which have not changed since 10/01/2025 ..

Next i tried to install older windows builds, i tried build 26100.1, and also the september 2025 build. so i removed a device from intune so it is a standalone device, installing windows 11 from usb worked because no drivers were installed, i noticed as soon as intel (r) graphics drivers were installed, the system froze, uninstalling the driver through devicemanagement improved the situation a bit and freezes are alot less frequent, but soon after windows updates reinstalled the driver again..

I also ran the intel cpu diagnostic tool and noticed the system froze up at the cpu load test.

Thanks for your response, the strange thing is our deployment uses windows 11 24h2 build 26100.4951, the driverpack on HP's ftp site is from 10-01-2025, so the driver in this pack for the graphics should work, as it has for the past 7 months, but now when we deploy the device with this task sequence through sccm from september, we are getting freezes/black screens ..

    Hi nijm565,

Based on the symptoms you described, the crashes are strongly tied to the Intel graphics driver and possibly CPU stress tests, which aligns with known compatibility issues introduced in recent cumulative updates.

The fact that standalone installs work until the Intel graphics driver is applied suggests the driver package from HP’s FTP site is not fully compatible with the February 2026 update. Rolling back the OS build or uninstalling the driver reduces the frequency of freezes, which confirms the driver is the trigger. At this stage, the supported workaround is to block automatic driver updates temporarily, and deploy a stable Intel graphics driver version manually until HP or Intel release an updated package certified for the new build. You can configure this through Group Policy or Windows Update for Business settings to prevent Windows from reinstalling the problematic driver.

I also recommend monitoring Microsoft’s release notes for Known Issue Rollback (KIR) announcements, as these are sometimes published when widespread driver conflicts occur. In the meantime, pausing updates across affected devices and holding back the February patch level will help maintain stability until a fixed driver is available.

If the information provided so far has helped you better understand or resolve the issue, please click "Accept Answer" to mark it as resolved, as this may also help others in the community.

    Jason.
